The 8u Panthers team is for Newton girls who would like to continue playing softball through July, in a competitive playing environment. At the tryouts, girls will demonstrate how they can throw, catch and field balls. 8u eligibility is for girls who were 8 years of age or younger as of 12/31/2010.
The team will practice 1-2 weekday nights per week. The practices are a lot of fun, and are the core activity for developing the team. The 8u team will play a maximum of 5 weekend tournaments, all in Rhode Island within a 1 hour drive from Newton. The dates will likely be the last weekend in June and 4 weekends in July. We will play on Saturdays, with a few opportunities to return on Sunday if we place well in the tournament. Last year, we returned on Sunday to play again in two tournaments; the others we were finished on Saturday afternoon.
