Fall and Winter Leagues
Newton Panthers OVERVIEW
The Panthers occasionally field a fall or winter team. This is determined on a team by team basis, based on player and coach interest. The teams are comprised of summer Panther players and supplemented with non-Panther players as the situation warrants. Newton softball players interested in playing on a fall or winter Panther team should contact Doug Clott.
In 2010 the Panthers fielded a 10u, 12u, and 14u team in the Charles River Softball League. Additionally the 12u and 14u team each played with significant success at the Sharon Tournament, September 25 & 26, 2010.
FALL LEAGUES
Charles River Softball League (CRSL)
Fall 2010 was the inaugural and very successful season for the CRSL. The league has 3 age divisions: 10u, 12u, and 14u, each with a minimum of 4 teams per division from 7 towns: Dover/Sherborn, Medfield, Needham, Newton, Sudbury, Wellesley, and Weston. Doubleheaders are played each Sunday at 8:00 & 10:00 am beginning the Sunday after Labor Day through the end of October.
EXTRA INNINGS, Watertown
Now in its sixth season, the Extra Innings Fall Softball League continues to expand and provide a quality, structured environment for softball to continue throughout the fall months. This is an instructional league and no standings are kept. The goal is to improve each player’s skills for the upcoming season and to have fun doing it. Certified umpires will work each game.
Extra Innings, Watertown participates in this league with other local Extra Innings franchises. Typically, most of the participating players come from the North Shore hence Extra Innings, Middleton organizes this league and most of the games are played in the Middleton area.
From our experience, the 18u division is geared for JV and Varsity HS players. The youner ages attract a wider diversity of skill sets. You can sign up as an individual player or as a team for this league. If a full team enters they usually schedule one or two double-headers in the town of that team.
- 18U Division - All doubleheaders are played on Sundays from early September – mid-October
- 10u & 14u Division - All doubleheaders are played on Saturdays from early September - mid-October
- Registration per PLAYER - $225 Includes: 12 games, uniform, practice time at Extra Innings, umpire fees and 10% Pro Shop discount during season
- Registration per TEAM - $450 Includes: 12 game schedule, umpire assignments, practice time and equipment discounts.
WINTER LEAGUES
Strike One, Danvers, MA
Strike One has two, new indoor Turf playing surfaces. The season typically consists of 15 games with a 7 game preliminary round followed by an 8 game "balanced schedule" round. The fee is $250 per player and includes umpire fees, game balls, and individual player insurance. You can register as an individual or as a team (12 player minimum).
2009 - 2010 Season
- First Saturday/Sunday in November – mid-March
- 18u: Sundays, 9:00 am – 9:30 pm
- 16u: Saturdays, 12:00 pm – 9:30 pm and possibly Sundays 8:00 am – 2:00 pm
- 14u: Saturdays 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
- 12u: will be combined with the U14B division to give coaches the chance to expand their rosters with some older players.
Teamworks, Auburn, MA
Teamworks has two, new indoor Turf playing surfaces. They run 3 sessions each consisting of ~8 weeks. You can register as a team or an individual.
